Until the rules for campaign fundraising and spending limits are changed, political figures will continue to sell their votes and influence for campaign contributions. It’s pretty much unavoidable, given the present cost of mounting a campaign. The money spent continues to escalate…and do notice that with that escalation, government seems to work far less efficiently and ethically.

The wealthy will resist such change because change might level the playing field…and neutralize the necessity and influence of their money. Campaign spending limits will not guarantee integrity in our public servants. There will always be ambitious, grasping jackals eager to line their pockets…but until you allow the genuinely service-minded citizen a fair chance to compete and win office, without the incessant need to raise money for re-elections, you will have our politicians selling their influence to the highest bidder.
